The TeacherTalk pedagogy
The data shows we need a new approach
The curriculum is clear that essays must increase in tension and make a point … AT THE END! However, when marking NAPLAN and Senior English assessments, it is evident that most students lack a clear purpose for writing. Consequently, their essays lack coherence, fizzle out, and fail to reflect their true capability.
Australia’s declining educational outcomes indicate that our current methods aren’t working. If we continue with current practices, we risk slipping further behind. Our students deserve better, and they are capable of better! Deliver our courses across your campus to ignite critical thinking, develop literacy, and prepare students to communicate effectively in all aspects of life.
Our pedagogical difference
1.
Socrates' puzzle: How can students investigate something if they don't know what it is?
Students access a comprehensive, curriculum-aligned Glossary Of Literary Devices so all students can reach for the stars.
2.
Literary devices are things - devices - that do something!
Students capture literary devices and analyse how they work together to create meaning. Through wordplay student use these devices to respond to an author and develop literary style.
3.
In literary texts,
the magic happens at the end!
Students analyse texts to and learn how to hear the author's message. They use their life experience to decide if they agree thereby generating ideas to craft authentic responses that are written from the heart.
Founded on 3 educational principles
Equitable access
Access a comprehensive Glossary Of Literary Devices to empower all students to work with A-grade curriculum concepts. Master these devices through a sequence bite-sized lessons.
Student-centered learning
Students learn to think for themselves and craft authentic responses to texts that make a point. Our Eng-Code® diagnostic system fosters independence to strive for excellence.
'In the zone' productivity
Lev Vygotsky championed the idea that students learn best when teaching is presented at – or just above – their current ability. Easily differentiate our resources to help students ‘get in the zone’ and be productive.

Restore the joy of teaching!
When a plane hits turbulence and oxygen masks drop from the ceiling, the instruction is clear: Buckle up and secure your own mask before helping your kids. However, at school, we do the opposite! We prioritise the needs of our students and neglect our own well-being. It's no surprise, then, that Education Minister Jason Clare is concerned that teacher shortages have reached 'crisis' levels (NCA NewsWire, January 2024). Teachers are buckling under the pressure and dropping out of the profession. Continuing with current practices is no longer viable. We need solutions. Now!
At TeacherTalk, we do the planning and deliver complete units of work that are easy to deliver during turbulent times. If you find your hand trembling over the eject button, please try this instead: Click our button to access our resources, give students the education they deserve, and restore the joy of teaching.
We're teachers too, and happy to answer any questions.
Testimonials
'When you give children the space to write what they want to write, and the tools to do it easily, the ideas that flow onto the page are inspiring.'

'Your pedagogy is right on point. However, we only have budget for trauma-informed resources to support our staff and students to survive day by day. You're welcome to reach out again next year, but I fear things won't have changed.'
